Enquiry  Discuss your vision, script, timelines, budget and usage requirements: what is it, where it is going, for how long?
Rates  Industry standard recording and editing fees are at THE BOX OFFICE.
Quote  Varies with recording session length, editing, usage fees, size of client, rush/weekend turnaround, technical /long narration, revisions, budget, number of spots / edits / cut downs.  Ongoing work deals.
Usage  This fee is paid to the performer on top of the recording session fee.  It covers the future license of the voiceover for the specified usage time.
License  VO artists own the copyright to the vocal performance and performance rights.  The copyright of the script is owned by the author or hirer.  VO artists license the use of the performance to clients as it is illegal in the UK to sell a performance.  In the license agreement the agreed usage is detailed and once that expires the client is welcome to renew the license.  Through payment of the invoice the client is agreeing to these terms.
Cut Downs  The voiceover can be edited according to the usage terms however it can’t be sold on without permission and the license can’t be transferred to a second series or another iteration of the product.
In Perpetuity  Correctly valued In Perpetuity is very expensive to buy because it is essentially a lifetime of licenses for that country or even more for global usage!  It’s also difficult for VO artists to grant as it could cancel them out of future work in that industry or even larger sectors if other clients require exclusivity.  VO Artists are very grateful if clients could calculate how long this voiceover will be needed and relevant, so they can quote accordingly, allowing our work options to stay open and for clients to stay within a reasonable budget!
Usage criteria  Please include:
Television:  Country shown in, TVRs (regions & amount of views) & length of usage for: Commercials, Bumpers, Continuity, Promos, Narration.
Radio: Country of broadcast, station, how many iterations, on air length for: Commercials, Drama, Promos, Imaging, BBC Promo, Podcast.
Online:  The new broadcast territory.  Please specify: if it’s part of a paid placement or boosted. Also the type of voiceover: TV/ Radio/ Online commercial/ Commercial pre roll, Explainer video, Generic VO (client website), Social Media or Spotify (non commercial), YouTube Content (non commercial).
Corporate:  Length of script, client, internal / public facing for: Narration, Explainer Videos – client website and/or social channel.  Audio guides for tours – how long and where.  Toys and Physical Games – how many iterations and brand.
Gaming:  Lead / supporting character, one off/ series, amount of lines, production house.
Animation:  Animated film / series, straight to DVD, web/ corporate – broadcast details.
Documentary:  How many episodes &  broadcast details.
Medical:  Non commercial or commercial usage (like online above) with post production costs.
E learning:  Script length as charged per-scripted-word and agreed as a project rate with post production costs.
Awards:  Live / pre recorded – date, script / show length, location, expenses or television broadcasts (see television).
Telephony & IVR:  Amount of messages, size of company.
Audiobooks:  Script length, author and production house.
Recording Time  1-2 hour sessions depending on script’s density and complexity.
Availability  Match diaries and book session.  Standard studio hours: 10- 6pm UK time, but can record earlier or later.
Agreement  Written confirmation of quote.

Pre Meet  Quick phone call to discuss the project and confirm pronunciations of script if Enquiry was by email.
Vision  An idea of vibe, look and tone in adjectives is helpful: conversational, formal, authoritative, luxurious, poetic.
References  Video or audio that you would like to recreate or have created, for tone, feel, atmosphere – Katie’s and others!
Guide Vocal  Sometimes useful to record before the session to test if you’re happy with the script flow, sentence length, timings and for Katie to hear preferred speed / emphasis.
Sample  Katie will send you a sample of your script (if you’re not in a live directed session) for you to approve tone, characterisation, style, delivery, production value and studio sound.

Dial In Or Independent  Connect and direct via Source Connect Standard, Source Connect Now or Skype.  Source Connect Standard picks up the raw unprocessed audio of Katie’s studio and transmits it through software via the internet and records it in your studio.
Record  Short scripts: record whole and pick up lines as needed. Longer scripts: record / approve sections.
